What makes this crazy easy avocado coconut hair mask so cool?
♡ it’s so simple and cheap
♡ takes under 2 minutes to make
♡ uses up squidgy old avocadoes
♡ no need for any fancy ingredients
1 on-the-way-out soft avocado
1 teaspoon solid coconut oil
2-3 tablespoons of water, as needed
5-7 drops essential oil (see below for suggested oils)
AND THAT’S IT!!
- Mix them all together with a hand blender or food processor (add extra water bit by bit as needed for the desired consistency).
- Wash out with shampoo after 20 minutes or so the lightly condition if desired.
After photo above (and below) shows hair, unstyled, only towel-dried after the treatment.

A couple of notes:
⚑ If you are bothered by the graininess of the coco oil maybe soften/melt it first or use ‘fractionated’ coconut oil
⚑ I used peppermint, rosemary, geranium (only because lavender isn’t good for lower blood pressured people) but try what you like. I know these are good ‘hair’ oils.
⚑ always test essential oils, diluted before trying them on or near the face (ie your hair)
⚑ I left it in for about 20 minutes.
⚑ there’s a bit of coco-oil-clean-up, but it’s not crazy hard
Super low waste and ethical (because it uses up something you’d otherwise throw out, at worst it would end up in landfill producing methane, and also there is zero packaging you’re bringing into your home like if you bought a hair mask at the store PLUS it’s 100% natural and toxin-free).
